I believe this was made as a toolbox. In the UK objects of this nature are referred to as "County Pieces." Although nicely made, it is obvious it was not commercially produced. It appears to have been put together with bits of wood that were going begging in the workshop. The swan-neck handle is made of metal, the top and bottom panels of hardboard.  I date it as C.1950, but it might well be slightly earlier, or later. It measures 40cm x 32cm x 15cm. Please add R48 for postage.
