No time, effort or expense was saved to compile this stunning work of art in itself, a magnificent showcase of South African Art up until the 1960s. It is a luxurious visual feast and one of the more comprehensive visual records of South African art before and up to 1960s. The colour blocks were made directly from the original paintings, and also extreme care were taken for the exact reproduction of every shade of colour, therefore the stunning quality even after all this time, of the colour plates affixed to its page by hand.

An outstanding book on South African Art in earlier years, a pride and joy for its next owner, add to that the brilliant artist Walter Battiss signature on the front pastedown.

• Hardcover. Condition: Fine.
• Ecru cloth boards with gilt titling on the spine. Boards in Very Good condition with few very light stains on rear panel. Corners intact, almost no shelf wear on edges.
• A clean tight copy internally, firmly bound. Pages are clean and tidy. Some browning to end pages, as well as Sellotape marks on end sheets from supposed plastic covering beforehand.
• SIGNED on front paste down by Walter Battiss.
• Dust Jacket in Very Good condition. Minimum edge-wear, nicks at corners, creases at folds and outer hinges, a 3cm tear on the front bottom fold. The front flap has two marks where the Sellotape has removed a layer of paper and left some marks. See photographs for details.
• Text: Afrikaans and English.
