S.A. Police Issue WW2 1907 Pattern Wilkinson Sword Bayonet With Rare Brown Leather Scabbard.

A fine example of a WW2 Pattern 1907 South African Police re-issued sword bayonet by the Wilkinson Sword Company for use with the Short Magazine Lee Enfield (SMLE) rifle.  A number of these bayonets were re-issued to the South African Police post-WW2.  The steel blade is the parkerized (blued) version.  The bayonet is in excellent antique condition with the locking button functional.

Marks (left ricasso) : Crown and "G.R." (George Rex - King George) over "1907" (pattern model) over "12" and "4?" (manufacture date - January, 194?) over "Wilkinson" (manufacturer).

Marks (right ricasso) : War Office broad arrow and "X" (bend test stamp) with a number of Enfield inspection stamps.

Marks (pommel) : "S.A.P." and South African Union military broad arrow.

Marks (handle spine): "Z"

Scabbard : Double-stitched rare brown leather with steel top-mount and chape.  The bayonet inserts and withdraws smoothly.

Length (bayonet) : 55 cm

Length (blade) : 43 cm
