History/Background Information: A scarce 1/2 Pond struck for the ZAR in the year 1896. Short lived series issued between 1892 and 1897. Struck to the same specifications as the British Half Sovereign.
Certification: NGC AU58 (Choice About Uncirculated)
Condition Notes: A superb coin on the cusp of mint state. Superb lustre and sparkle to the surfaces and near wear free. Rich butterscotch coloration adorns the planchet. Premium for the grade. With only 14 coins having graded MS, this presents a scarce good opportunity to acquire a premium AU specimen.
