History/Background Information: A popular series issued between 1923 and 1932. Struck at the state mint in Pretoria.

Condition Notes: A superbly crafted piece of the absolute highest quality. Sparkling lustre adorns the surfaces of this rich gold-colored sovereign. Very seldom seen in this kind of preservation, this coin was undoubtedly lovingly cared for over it's near 100 year lifespan. Part of an elite band of South African gold sovereigns to have achieved an MS66 grading.

This PCGS Registry #1 collection was the finest assembled collection of Bristish and Commonwealth sovereigns and was sold over a number of months by Heritage Auctions of the United States in 2020. The former owner of the collection placed great emphasis on a coin's technical quality and as a result the collection contained famed rarities in absolute top grade. Included in this collection was the 1923SA Sovereign PCGS MS66 which fetched $52,600 in the same sale.
