Here we have on auction a scarce (which was made/ existed BUT never issued award) South African Honoris Crux 1952 type medal 2nd award ribbon device - a small eagle.
The following is a link to the 'net giving a full explanation of the intended use and time period etc for this scarce item
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honoris_Crux_(1952)
Description; "Bar button The Bar to denote a subsequent award of the decoration, is 32 millimetres wide and silver-gilt, in its centre an eagle, similar to those between the arms of the cross on the decoration itself. When only ribbon bars are worn, a recipient of a subsequent award would have worn a silve-gilt button depicting this eagle, 8 millimetres in diameter, on the ribbon bar".
The item is un-mounted and the 2 small "flaps" at the rear are intact.
Please note that as a "medal ribbon device" that this item is VERY small and therefore I recommend postage within SA as a std small size padded envelop (minimal cost hence BUT recommend that it be sent "registered mail" as a minimum).
Postage quotes supplied to the winning bidder and dependent on the persons location and preferred shipping/ postage method.
Local shipping possible via Postnet on this item at R100 flat-rate anywhere in SA! You are welcome to combine shipping with other items offered here on BoB.
Please note that Postnet parcels will only be dispatched on Weds or Fri and SAPO parcels ONLY on Sat (due to current work commitments and time restrictions to get to SAPO and the queues.
Foreign bidders most welcome BUT please use BoB voucher or BoB bucks for payment!
Happy bidding!!!
The next pic shows an example of what it would have looked like if the award had been made (worn);
