2 Signal Regiment (2 Sig Regt) [Afr: 2 Seinregiment (2 Seinregt)] was originally established as the General Head Quarters (GHQ) Signal Company just after WWII, on 1 May 1946, and was officially referred to as the GHQ Signal Service on 1 January 1951. On 17 June 1952, the unit was re-designated to Defence Head Quarters (DHQ) Signal Service. On 1st December of that year, official order 3/32 gave authority for re-designation to DHQ Signal Squadron, and on 1 March 1962, the formal re-designation took effect. On 5 May 1972, DHQ Signal Squadron was granted Regimental Status, becoming 2 Signal Regiment. 2 Signal Regiment was based in Wonderboom, Pretoria, [231 Troop in Pietersburg, 1977]
