NOTE: This hobby never ceases to amaze me. This Ad Astra decoration, I bought a while ago only to find that when compared to other Ad Astra's this one is not crisp, not well defined and someone has actually tried to color in the enamel SAAF roundel. The one point of the star (linked to the suspender) is slightly bent and the dark patches you see on the picture is actually the shadow in the medal reverse indicating a lack of uniformity. The suspender also does not have the usual silver marking on it. In fact this suspender is slightly shorter that the standard Ad Astra suspender.
I have included two photos - showing the obverse and reverse of this one on sale and my other Ad Astra decoration (which is NOT for sale)- just for interest.
Could it be a fake? I have no idea, all I can say is that it is still a collectors item as I have certainly never seen one like this before.
