SADF Ermelo Commando Shoulder Flash. 2 Replaced Pins Intact.

The Ermelo Commando had already been established at Ermelo in the Eastern Transvaal before 1899. During the Anglo Boer War it was an active Boer commando operating against the British forces. In the time of the SADF, from 1969, it was organised under the Group 12 Headquarters at Ermelo, initially under the Northern Transvaal Command until 1983, from when Group 12 Headquarters was placed under the command of the newly formed Eastern Transvaal Command at Nelspruit. The Commando was responsible for local area protection. It was disbanded with the remainder of the commandos after President Mbeki announced the disbanding of the commando system on 14th February 2003.
