This matching pair of shoulder flashes was worn by Headquarters (HQ) Company of an infantry unit in the South African Army during the South African Defence Force (SADF) era. Commonly known as tupper flashes, they are made from a stiff, durable material and were typically worn on the epaulettes of the standard nutria (brown) uniform shirt or jacket. The flashes feature a green and blue diamond insignia outlined in yellow, denoting HQ Company. These were usually worn with a command bar above the flash to identify the specific unit; no command bar is included.
