This item is a SADF-era Northern Transvaal Command pocket flash in metal, representing one of the major regional commands of the South African Defence Force.

The design features a springbok head above crossed swords, topped with three Gazania flowers, all set on a blue shield. The springbok emblem was adopted by the South African Army in 1951, with the crossed swords added later to symbolise land force authority and command.

The Northern Transvaal Command was active from 1959 into the early 2000s. It oversaw a large operational area, including multiple commando units, reserve formations, and support structures. As a command-level flash, this type of insignia is widely collected due to its association with regional headquarters and senior command formations.
