SADF R1 (FN-FAL) Bayonet with Unusual SA Scabbard (Steel Stud). No. 148806.
A vintage SADF bayonet for the R1 rifle. Bears the SA military stamp and serial number 148806. The plastic scabbard is an unusual pattern manufactured in South Africa. It is uncommon in having a flat steel frog stud and a transverse leg-tie hole in the ball finial. Stamped "66" with the SA military mark.
South African-made R1 scabbards have the throatpiece oriented so that the socket faces inward when carried. Other countries' FAL Type C scabbards had the throatpiece oriented so that the socket faces outward when carried. In good, vintage condition.
Length (bayonet) : 29cm
Length (blade) : 16cm
Length (in scabbard) : 31.5cm
