Original South African Navy diver qualification badge featuring the classic deep-sea diving helmet.

FULL DESCRIPTION
This item is a South African Navy diver badge, used as part of the SADF qualification system for naval divers and occasionally worn by Special Forces (Recce) operators who qualified on the Navy diving course.
The badge is made of metalcommonly gilding steel or brass-colouredand is shaped as a traditional deep-sea diving helmet. Diver badges were issued in different levels (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3), each indicating a qualification stage. The version shown here is a common pattern worn on mess dress or office dress uniforms.
This insignia was widely used during the SADF era, particularly through the 1970s and 1980s.
