Usage and Significance
Initial Training: Early members developed bushcraft and unconventional tactics. Only qualified Operators who complete the demanding Special Forces selection process, with an approximate 8% pass rate, may wear the Special Forces beret and insignia.
Combat History
The Recces became one of the worlds most effective unconventional forces, primarily active during the South African Border War (19661989). They conducted deep reconnaissance, sabotage, and direct-action missions in Angola, Mozambique, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
