Short Description
A South African Army Technical Services Corps beret bar (flash) featuring red, yellow, and blue enamel sections, worn beneath the unit badge on the beret.
Full Description
This item is a military beret bar, also known as a flash/balkie, used by the South African Army Technical Services Corps. The corps is widely known by the informal name Tiffy.
The bar displays three enamel colours:
Red
Yellow
Blue
These colours form the recognised pattern for the Technical Services Corps. The bar is metal with two pins on the back for secure attachment, as was standard for SADF-era beret flashes. Beret bars were worn beneath the main beret badge to indicate corps affiliation.
This piece is sought after by collectors of South African military insignia due to its association with a highly specialised technical corps.
