Pepperoncini peppers are mildly hot - 100 to 500 Scoville units - and originally from Italy. The colour changes from green to red when ripe and they will also develop a wrinkled skin. They are very popular for pickling and can also be used in a variety of meals like soups, sauces, salsas and salads. The plants are small and fruit grow to between 7 - 12 cm. This heirloom originates from Southern Italy.
