Secondhand. 233pp. This is an excellent book of interest to all those who enjoy Greek - particularly Cretan - food. Nicholas Stavroulakis is well known for his excellent books on West Cretan Cooking - my copy is heavily stained with olive oil and yoghurt! - try the lamb/yoghurt recipes - and Cookbook of the Jews of Greece. This book is slightly different in that it is also something of a social and family history for the first 50 pages. I enjoyed reading these but my real interest is the recipes and these are generally excellent. The instructions are full and explicit with some useful side notes. The salads are also excellent. I won't use this every day but I will use it regularly - particularly for the chicken and the rice recipes.
