A semi tropical plant Native to Mexico Salvia divinorum is a perennial herb in the mint family that used for its hallucinogenic effects and medicinal purposes. Used in higher concentrations for psychedelic and and shamanic travels.. it is also used lower doses for pain relieve, sleeping disorders, anxiety etc.. WHAT IS ITS ORIGIN? Salvia divinorum is native to certain areas of the Sierra Mazateca region of Oaxaca Mexico. It is one of the most powerful psychedelics known to man and a healing plant as well...its one of several plants that are used by Mazatec Indians as medicine or in their divination rituals and shamanic travels. Can be chewed used dried up in capsules or extracted as salvia divinorum A...although it's a bit bitter to the taste it leaves a pleasant feeling within a few minutes to an hour after ingestion. It induces vivid visions and dreams the intensity depends on the individuals sensitivity or the dosage taken at a time. When ingested effects lasts for 3 up to 6 hours... when smoked (especially salvia divinorum A) short but intense visuals and extrasensory perceptions are noticed immediately after smoking last 5 to 10 minutes. Do not use when driving or using dangerous machinery. Have a baby sitter if you use it for shamanic travels because it's not for recreational use. Only for serious spiritual learning. The plant itself is very sensitive preferring semi shade (but lots of sunlight) a humid environment 50 to 80% humidity. Can slowly be acclimated to dryer sunnier conditions over time.
Keep well misted especially during sunny days in well drained well composted soil. Add some dry leaves and 1 cup of Bone meal or dry clean eggshells mixed into about 4litres of potting soil. Add a cup of pearlite if soil is to water logged. Water well the min it starts to droop and only water every two weeks or when the plant starts to droop a bit. Salvia hates wet feet. They love nutrient rich well drained soil with some rotting leaves and grass cuttings to grow superiorly. Add fish emulsion or velvet bean (muccuna prurience) if you can't stand the smell of fish emulsion. Ps. Ventilate well after applying fish emulsion because the fumes can kill the plant if left completely closed after. Use a garden spray bottle with filtered or distilled water to spray every day once a day or as needed in your area depending on weather. The leaves grow large and emerald green if we'll looked after and I'm the right conditions. Leaves burn and dries out fast when in the sun so keep semi shaded and humid enough. Dnt allow leaves or plant to dry out or droop to long and watch out for root rot if using soil that is not well drained or not clean enough. Potting soil is best because it has less pathogens. Plant in a larger container only once the roots are fully developed and almost outgrows the pot. Don't be over ambitious with the size of the pot when replanting.
