Samsung‘s SyncMaster 2494HS is a 23.6″ LCD mon­i­tor that sports a 16:9 aspect ratio. The 2494HS has a 1920 x 1080 pixel for­mat and the folks over at Samsung had their proper think­ing hats on: HDMI. Yes, the 2494HS has a HDMI port and that’s a good thing if you want to watch 1080p video con­tent. I assume that’s the rea­son for 16:9 and a LCD TV-like 1920 x 1080 pixel for­mat. Of course, for those who are less inter­ested in view­ing 1080p HD con­tent, you can also con­nect this fairly hand­some unit to your PC using DVI or VGA con­nec­tions to do work (or play). The view­ing angles are a bit lim­ited to 170/160 and that means this mon­i­tor has a TN LCD: noth­ing wrong with that, just make sure you’re not in need of wide view­ing angles. The 2494HS is a LCD mon­i­tor that makes sense with a com­bined 1920 x 1080 pixel for­mat and HDMI connection.
