Review:
The Samsung HT-UP30 is second to none in the range of low-budget, good quality, nice looking, average spec. home cinema systems.
Priced at around £150 (at Dixons, Comet or Currys) this is one of the very rare occasions where you get a better deal in the shops rather than online.
- The looks are definitely excellent (however, the main unit is quite deep and takes up quite a lot of space).
- Very very good sound quality. (From my personal experience it sounds like it encodes any sound source (whether it be music, TV or dvds) into surround sound, splitting up the separate bass tracks from the treble and mid)
- You can plug in a USB mp3 player and play all the songs through the system as if they were on a CD (eg. Track 01, Track 02 etc.)
- It can take nearly all types of disc: DVD, CD-R, CD+R, Audio CD, MP3 CD, VCD, WMA CD, DIVX
- It is progressive scan compatible (meaning that you get better picture quality on progressive scan TV's (I think))
- It has a headphone output (which some surround sound systems don't have)
- It has an optical input (so Minidisc players etc. can connect to it)
- There is an AM and FM radio tuner (great if you are bored of listening to CD's)
- The subwoofer is absolutely excellent (good vibrations!)
