DESCRIPTION AND CONDITION
DESCRIPTION	A really lovely and artistic female nude carved from one piece of hardwood by SAMUEL SAKHIA MAPHIRI (b 1941). It stands 65 cm high and has a base which forms part of the carving. The nude figure is executed realistically, but also contains stylised elements such as a lack of facial features and somewhat elongated legs. There is no indication of when this carving was executed, but I deduce from the patina and style that it probably dates from the 1970s. I have taken several images of this lovely item and they appear below. Have a look at them and, if you are unsure about anything, ask me a question.
CONDITION	The figure is in good condition. There is some natural cracking along the grain to the base section which can be seen on one of the images below.

NOTES
A really decorative and very well executed carving. This item also has excellent rich colouring and patina and lovely smooth texture. It is very striking when displayed in the right setting.

The bottom section of the figure is one a base carved from the same piece of wood. Note that there is some natural cracking along the wood grain on the base.
