SAMURAI KATANA SWORDS
These are mass produced swords manufactured really as display swords, though very capable weapons. A genuine Samurai Sword will set you back 10's, if not 100's of thousands of Rands. Just accessories for a genuine sword, such as a Tsuba (the guard between the blade and the handle) can cost R25 000 or more. So in a nut shell, these are nice to have knock-off's which will look great in any study, bar or entertainment room. The Tsuka (Handle) is wrapped in Red Tsuka ito (Cord Wrap) and the Saya (Scabbard) has a glossy red lacquer finish.
DIMENSIONS (Approximate Lengths): Long Sword: 93.5cm + 7cm with the scabbard on. Medium Length Sword: 71cm + 7cm with the scabbard on. Short Sword: 46cm + 8cm with the scabbard on. The weight of all three swords is 2.06Kg and the stand 0.445Kg.
CONDITION - Starting price so low only because of the following faults.
LONG SWORD - *Scabbard: Good but has a little lacquer blemish in a small area at the top, can be felt more easily than seen* - **Handle: Excellent** - *** Blade: Good but suffers from a few small nicks in the blade, could be sharpened out***
MEDIUM LENGTH SWORD: *Scabbard: Very Good besides a small chip on the back* - **Handle: Fair only because it is missing the end cap and the nut is exposed** - ***Blade: Excellent***
SMALL SWORD: *Scabbard: Small lacquer blemish* - **Handle - Excellent** - ***Blade: Excellent***
STAND: Excellent
I MAY BE BEING A LITTLE OVER CRITICAL AS SMALL LACQUER BLEMISHES WOULD PROBABLY BE STANDARD ON ALL MASS PRODUCED COPIES - BUT BETTER THE DEVIL YOU KNOW.
