Burnet, Greater Burnet, Greater Salad Burnet, Great Burnet, Official Burnet

Sanguisorba officinalis (Great Burnet) is a plant in the family Rosaceae, subfamily Rosoideae. It is native throughout the cooler regions of the Northern Hemisphere in Europe, northern Asia, and northern North America. This wildflower is often grown for it herbal value! Young leaves, mildly reminiscent of cucumber, are often used in salads; while the root is used to slow blood flow, or to treat burns. Deep red to purple flowers bloom during the summer months. It grows 60cm to 90cm in height, should be spaced 22.5cm to 45cm apart in full sun to part shade for best results.
