Observed faults:

Tape cassette is accepted into the camera, after which the mechanism attempts to load before ejecting the cassette again.

A repetitive mechanical "rattle" sound is heard during the loading attempt.

No image is visible through the viewfinder.

Observed testing:

The camera powers on using both the supplied mains adaptor and the supplied batteries.

When connected to a television using the supplied RF adaptor and AV connection, the camera produces a live image and audio output.

The autofocus system responds to movement and the lens adjusts focus automatically.

Manual zoom controls operate.

Backlight and other camera controls respond when operated.

The built-in microphone captures audio which is audible through the television connection.

Due to the tape-loading fault, recording and playback functions could not be fully tested.

The batteries accepted charge and powered the camera during testing. Battery operating life has not been assessed.

The SCART adaptor cable is included but has not been separately tested.

No carry case is included.

The camera and accessories are in good cosmetic condition overall, with controls, switches and buttons appearing intact and operating normally.

The VM-D3P forms part of Sanyo's 8mm camcorder range from the analogue home-video era. 8mm systems were developed as a more compact alternative to VHS-based camcorders and became widely used for family and personal video recording before the transition to digital formats.
