1. In your Hand: Anywhere. Good to medium quality. Depends on the environment and your understanding of eliminating interference.

2. In the Field:  (amateur/hobby sound recordist).  With a quality microphone. Very, very good. I used a Sennheiser e815S. This mike cuts out so many 'outside' interferences. Almost unbelievable for the amateur I am.

3. In the 'Studio'  As a serious amateur with a low budget.  A and B examples.

• A Plug into a USB port using the built in, click step, connection. Download 'field' recording/s (interface software and instruction manual on included CD). Test. Not happy? Import to your favourite audio editing program. Adjust. Save. Sit back and enjoy!
• B  Position the recorder in a relative 'stereo' position to your desktop/laptop/home theatre speakers. Record. Result? For amateurs, surprisingly good! You may have to experiment a wee bit to achieve optimal positioning. Caution. Ensure that your desktop/laptop/home theatre sound settings and speaker positions (physically)  are optimal for YOUR listening pleasure.
