SAR Class 5R Number Plate (Plaster Cast Replica) - South African Railways

This a very authentic plaster cast replica of Class 5R Steam Locomotive - SAR No. 781 number plate, in very good condition.  It may have been a clock at some stage - see photo below and was produced for and sold by the old SAR Museum which is now no more.

SAR No. 781 was the ONLY Class 5 to be reboilered.  All Class 5 Steam Locomotives were withdrawn from service by 1942 except No. 781 who ended her working days at Germiston in 1969.  Information as per Locomotives Of The South African Railways - Leith Paxton & David Bourne.
