This manufacturer's brass works plate (Works Number 16397) was assigned to SAR Class 1, No 1272. Delivered to the NGR from the Glasgow Works of the North British Locomotive Company in 1904, these locomotives were designed by D.A.Hendrie and were the first class of tender locomotives on the Natal Government Railways. They were known as the Hendrie 'B's' until the SAR was formed in 1910, when they became Class 1. Plate is 340 x 135 mm, with a mass of 930g. Allow R50.00 for counter-counter postage in SA.
