An unusual French majolica plate by Sarreguemines with embossed strawberries and leaves.  This plate was made in 1931 towards the end of this company's production of majolica items which finished in 1940.  (Majolica refers to a decorative ornamental/ embossed style.)  The plate measures 24cm in diameter, and it slopes gently outward from the strawberries, creating a depth of about 2.5cm.

The condition is excellent.  No chips, cracks or restoration.  It is very crazed, however, which is normal for ceramics of this age and does not detract at all from a very interesting and unusual item.
