The 1991 Gulf War against Iraq saw the biggest deployment of SAS soldiers to an operational theatre since World War II.
Some of their exploits, notably the ordeal of the patrol code-named "Bravo Two Zero", have become well known, but other aspects of the SAS campaign in the Gulf have remained shrouded in secrecy.
