Offered for sale is a collectible small ceramic bowl by the famous industrial ceramicist Inger Waage (1923-1995) made for Stavangerflint Norway in the mid 1950's. This is a boat or leaf shaped bowl in earthenware with a bold eye catching hand painted motif of two deer flanked by a dramatic abstract zig zag triangular motif. The base colour is a rich creamy yellow with the design in black. The back of the bowl has hand painted and printed marks including the IW mark ie the artists initials and also the name of the IW Department a newly established handicraft division within Stavangerflint which was launched in 1955 with Inger Waage as the head of department leading a team of 10 decorators implementing her designs (both hand painted and silkscreened). Inger Waage was a hugely successful designer for Stavengerflint in the mid 20th Century ; her ceramic ranges were exported to the USA, UK and Europe.
