Offered for sale is a charming and unusual ceramic wall plate by Nymolle Denmark designed by world famous British artist, book illustrator and cartoonist the late Ronald Searle. The plate depicts Cleopatra who is re-imagined as a lush Edwardian beauty reclining on a chaise with a cigarette holder, fan and elaborate feathered headgear/fascinator. She is wearing a bespangled full length evening dress, bracelets and choker with heavy kohl like eye make up. The plate is signed in the image with the artists initials. The plate is full marked on the back with the title ,artists name, facsimile signature and manufacturers name Nymolle. The plate is medium sized and glazed in a pale celadon with a black transfer printed design. The condition is good; there is a small glaze frit on the rim.
