SCARCE!! SIGNED!! ULRICH SCHWANECKE "MISGIVINGS" FIRST EDITION, 2000, LIMITED EDITION. Unpaginated, 35 pages, 9 full pages of original graphics, and black and white illustrations in the text, red leather, titled gilt on the upper cover and spine, an excellent copy.

It is signed twice by the artist, once at the front where he gifts it to a close friend and once at the end. The colophon reads: "This is not a book but a series of original graphics. The accompanying words are pertaining thereto. The linocuts were printed by Artist Proof Studio. The letterpress text by the Artists' Press and the binding was done by Hugh Berrow."

Ulrich Konrad Heinraich Valtin SCHWANECKE was born on 6th January, 1932, in Halberstadt (Harz), Germany. He emigrated to South Africa in 1952 as a mining recruit. He visited SWA for the first time in 1962, together with the artist Jan Buys. In 1965 and 1966, Ulrich Schwanecke and Durant Sihlali went on landscape painting trips to SWA.He travelled extensively outside Southern Africa, including: Greece 1985, USA 1985 and 1987, Portugal 1989, Australia 1990, Egypt 1992, China 1994. He died in October 2006.
