SCARCE! "THE SOUTH AFRICAN AIRFORCE AT WAR" BY MARTIN LOUW & STEFAAN BOUWER, HARDCOVER, COMPLETE INTACT DUSTJACKET, 1995 SECOND REVISED EDITION, 271 PAGES, IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, NO NAMES, INSCRIPTIONS, ETC.
A book that finally brings the history and exploits of the South African Air Force alive. With more than 875 photographs, most of which have never before been published, this is the most comprehensive book on South Africa's air power. The book gives fascinating and often spine chilling accounts of the SAAF through the Second World War, Korea, and closer to home, the operational area along the southern frontier of Angola. Many of the full scale operations of the time are covered in detail, with authoritive, well researched and accurate stories attached to each photograph. A large section is devoted to the bush war, from the initial photo-reconnaissance sorties over Angola in 1967 to the heaviest fighting of the entire campaign in 1987, when a combined FAPLA/Cuban force under Russian leadership clashed with combined SADF/UNITA forces in the east and with SADF forces in the west.
