Scarce Orange 'HELPMEKAAR 10. NOV. 1917' Badge(1914/15 Rebellion)

 

These scarce, antique badges or pins were issued to people who contributed towards the 'HELPMEKAAR' fund, which was used to pay the court fines of rebels of the '1914/15 Rebellion'. The rebels were against South Africa entering WW1 against Germany. (Out of interest, by 10thNovember 1917, 230 000 pounds was collected, 100 000 pounds more than was needed).
