Scarce WW1 'War Time Butter Dish' (Grimwades)

This scarce, nostalgic, small, collectable WW1 china dish, titled 'THE WAR TIME BUTTER DISH', is in excellent condition and carries the 'GRIMWADES' backstamp on the base. The dish, measuring 10cm in diameter, was made during the Great War to highlight the sacrifices needed by families at home in supporting the war effort through rationing food supplies. It has a message from the Prime Minister on the front and from the makers on the back.

The front reads: 'SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM THE HON.  D. LLOYD GEORGE PRIME MINISTER' 'I have no hesitation in saying that economy in the consumption and use of food in this country is a matter of the greatest possible importance to the Empire at the present time'.

The back reads: 'THE WAR TIME BUTTER DISH (FOR A FAMILY OF TEN)' 'Made by the girls of Staffordshire during the Winter of 1917/18 when the Boys were in the trenches fighting for liberty & civilization'.

Please feel to mail me with any queries, and please look closely at the pictures provided as they are of the actual item and form a vital part of the description.
