Sceletium tortuosum, commonly known as Kanna or Kougoed, is a succulent plant which originates in the arid western parts of South Africa. It has a long history of use by indigenous tribes for its mood elevating and antidepressant qualities. These effects stem from alkaloid substances contained in the leaves of the plant such as Mesembrine, Mesembrone, and Tortuosamine. Dried leaves from different plants and harvests have been blended together in order to ensure a consistent alkaloid content of 1,0% across all capsules and batches.
