Cahen geboren, behielt sie den Namen ihres ersten Ehemanns als Künstlernamen, obwohl sie später den Professor an der Ecole du Louvre Philippe Stern heiratete. Le Prat begann mit Reisephotos für die Compagnie des Messageries Maritimes aus Asien, Afrika und Ozeanien, wandte sich seit 1947 aber ganz der Portrait-, Tanz- und Theaterphotographie zu.
