1. 'Sensitive Plant', so called because the leaflets fold up fast, in a most spectacular manner when touched or blown by the wind.

2. 'Pitcher Plant', so called because its leaves fuse together to form a pitcher which in turn is filled with enzymes that consume trapped insects.

3. 'Resurrection Plant', so called because in droughts the whole plant dries out, but revives within hours of rain.

4. 'Venus Fly Trap', so called because if a fly or other small insect touches the hairs on the leaves the plant will close tightly around it and begin digesting it.

5. 'Sundew', so called because they secrete a sticky sap that provide a moist appearance that is irresistable to insects. Once an insect is trapped on a leaf, the leaf curls around the insect until it is digested.

6. 'Stoneplants', so called because they so closely resemble the surrounding pebbles of their natural habitat, either in coloration or shape or both.
