Scott Balson responds to Pierre Henri on Griquatown tokens

In December last year Pierre Henri published a response to my ten year old web page with 50 points that proved not a single Griquatown token circulated, he viewed things differently. Spink, Stanley Gibbons, Morgan Carroll (in his latest S African coin catalogue) and Krause have all adopted my research.

Pierre Henri sold this document here on BoB in PDF form and confirms in his comments the Griquatown tokens were a failed experiment. He is currently selling this document on BoB.

I never bothered getting one of his documents but at the prodding of a good friend who supplied me with a copy I now respond to Pierre Henri's research. BTW he did a good job and I applaud him but the fundamentals do not change.

What you are getting here is Pierre Henri's original PDF with all his comments made in response to my 50 points and my response to his responses in blue below each point with extensive links in a PDF that now runs to over 30 pages. I think this is the first time there has been such detailed debate on a coin in S Africa and I thank Pierre Henri for taking up the challenge.

I have deliberately not attacked the "messenger" (Pierre Henri) and trust that he will show the same decorum towards me in future.

I have no doubt that when you read the responses I give to Pierre Henri you will agree that the Griquatown tokens never circulated - not one. But that is your decision to make.
