This is a wooden hilt carved Sgian Dubh Dress knife  - used for dress on the inside of the sock . Wooden Celtic style carving on the hilt.

The sgian dubh was worn by highland regiments of the army and civilians alike. Traditionally tucked into the top of the sock / hose. When translated Sgian Dubh means "black knife" - in terms of the hidden aspect of the knife.

This specific Sgian Dubh is around 15 years old plus ............a great item for its age.

It has been worn on many "bonnie " occasions with pride.
