Archontophoenix cunninghamiana

(Formally Seaforthia elegans)

(Common Name Bungalow Palm)

Endemic to eastern Australia, this palm grows naturally in rainforests. It has a tall, solitary trunk, an open crown and pinnate leaves that are green on both surfaces. A popular landscaping palm, it is adaptable and moderately cold hardy. Growing in temperate regions, it performs equally well in the tropics and requires shady and sunny positions with adequate moisture. Mature fruits are red and seed germinates in 2 to 3 months.
