The Seagate Momentus 5400.6 ST9500325AS has the usual 2.5-inch hard disk number of two data discs that zip along at 5400 revolutions per minute of the two read-write heads. The buffer memory, as with the competition also typical 8 MB in size. The usable space after formatting NTFS is around 466 GB.



The Momentus model is currently positioned in the sequential transfer rates along with the Western Digital Scorpio Blue WD5000BEVT in third place. The maximum data rate of the ST9500325AS was very good in reading and writing 83 MB / s. The average read and write rate was also very good at 65 or 63 MB /s. At the same high level of commuting to the minimum reading and writing transfer rate of 39 respectively 38 MB /s..

In the reading and writing tests Seagate Momentus 5400.6 ST9500325AS cut the mostly good to very good from, to copy data it was found to have significant weaknesses. When reading the innermost data tracks the 500 GB drive was on good 19.7 MB / s, the outer lanes were there good 31.6 MB / s. When writing on the inner tracks reached the practical data rate of 19.7 MB / s only two 2.5-inch drives at 7,200 revolutions per minute shoveled still one to two megabytes more about the SATA interface.
