Second World Pattern 1907 303 MANGROVE Bayonet - Later Issued to the S.A. Railway Police.

This bayonet was manufactured in Australian by the Mangrovite Company (MA" = Munitions Australia manufactured at Lithgow this means that this bayonet was produced by the bayonet makers of Lithgow Co). The handle has the "SLAZ" stamp on it which indicates that it was made by Slazenger Sports Equipment Pty Ltd. in Sydney, Australia.

On the leather scabbard is the "SAR" marking indicating that it was used by the Railway Police (see large oval in picture)..

The other marking on the scabbard cannot not clearly be distinguished (the small oval) and we do not know whether it is pictured the right way up.

On the blade is the name "Gerhard Hartzenberg" hand engraved.

The length of the bayonet is 42.5cm.

The bayonet and its scabbard are still in a good condition.
