TELEMETER DESCRIPTION:
With the telemeter it is possible to measure the distance of a phenomenon which is both visible and audible.
The chronograph hand is released when the ocurrance is seen and stopped the moment that the sound is heard.
The position of the hand on the scale will show the distance of the phenomenon from the observer, without the need for any calculations! The scale of the telemeter is based on the speed that sound travels through the air.
By using the telemeter one can for example measure the distance between a lightning strike and the point of observation! The distance of anything that can both be seen and heard can thus be measured.
