  The selected correspondence of Sir James Rose-Innes consists of letters from and to various Statesmen,family and friends. He was often addressed as "My dear Innes" The surname Rose-Innes was adopted from the Scottish marriage  of a "Rose" and "Innes".The family are sometimes referred to in South African history books as having the surname "Innes" and other times"Rose-Innes"  Letters from statesman Sir Richard Solomon  attorney and lieutenant governor of the Transvaal are part of the correspondence in this book.The original letter from Sir Richard Solomon on auction here was written to the first cousin of Sir James Rose-Innes namely Henry Rose-Innes who is mentioned in this book. The book was published by the Van Riebeeck society and an original letter from the editor Harrison.M. Wright written to a Rose-Innes family member is also on auction here.See images for description.
