"Maypop"

Incarnata, also known as "maypops," are native to the U.S.and produce an edible fruit which tastes similar to commercially grown passion fruit, but with a flavor that is somewhat milder than grocery store varieties.

Many incarnata fruit turn pale yellow when ripe, but this particular variety retains its green color--once the fruit drop, collect and set in a sunny window for several days until the skin begins to wrinkle to ensure full ripeness and best flavor.
