Common Name: Silver Coral Senecio scaposus previously known as Senecio calamifolius is indigenous to South Africa. It is a stemless or nearly stemless small succulent that forms cobwebby rosettes of 5-10cm long silver finger-like leaves that angle upward in tufts. The silvery rosettes provide great accent for rock gardens. It bears striking yellow daisy-like flowers from late spring to summer. It prefers a porous soil with adequate drainage and bright light with ample airflow. Water thoroughly when the soil is dry to the touch and let the soil dry between watering. It will require less water during the winter months and can take temperatures as low as -7°C. They make excellent container plants and plants growing in small pots with well-drained soil can tolerate winter rains.
