MAGNIFICENT IRIDESCENT VINTAGE OPAL AND DARK BLUE SAPPHIRE 9CT YELLOW GOLD RING. HEAVY! *JEWELLER CERTIFIED 15'000*

This piece features a huge, amazingly iridescent opal surrounded by dark blue sapphires, all set in 9ct yellow gold. The 15mm x 7,3mm softly polished lozenge-shaped cabochon is raised on elongated claws that form part of quite a complicated cage around the ring head. 14 x 2,5mm mid blue, round faceted sapphires are set in a lower tier, but also on elongated claws, so that the openwork between the claws allows light through to maximise the the iridescence and sparkle of the gemstones. A simple slim shank supports the ring head which at 20mm long x 14mm wide x 8mm high, comes quite far up the finger. The pedigree of the ring is well hallmarked by the jeweller's signature, '375' indicating 9ct gold, the London Assay mark as well as the date mark for 1975. I have had the ring jeweller tested and authenticated. His evaluation certificate for R15'000 will accompany the ring, which comes in a quality ring box. It is in beautiful condition - the opal in particular has spectacular iridescence that I found almost impossible to capture on camera. This beautifully crafted 42 year old vintage piece is lovely on the hand and is a special collector's item!
