A set of three Royal Albert duos in a pattern known as “Gossamer”. This pattern was first introduced by Royal Albert in the 1950s and continued until the 1970s. The series consisted of six colours: blue, green, grey, yellow, pink and orange. Here we have the grey (in reality dove grey, bordering on light blue), pink (somewhere between fuscia and magenta) and orange (a shade between marmalade and amber) ones. The cups are in the smooth shape. The rims, feet and handles are all richly gilded. The cups are on the small side (see dimensions below). These duos date from the 1960-70s. You are bidding per duo to take all three.
The duos are all in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. The colours are bright and cheerful. The only issue is that there are varying degrees of minor gild loss on the handles of all three cups (particularly the sharp extremities) and about a quarter of the rim on the pink saucer (see last photo). The other saucers are fine, and the gilding is intact on the rims and feet of the cups.
Dimensions: The cup measures about 7.3 cm across (excluding the handle) and is 7 cm high. The diameter of the saucer is about 12.4 cm and its height 1.5 cm.
Postage is R65 through SAPO or R120 with PostNet for all three duos. Please add 3% to the sale price if you wish your parcel to be insured against loss by SAPO. I offer FREE postage through SAPO for porcelain orders of R500 or more, so do have a look at my other listings for possible combinations.
