Diameter Underplate: 14.5cm. Info: A Beautifully styled set of small Bouillon / Soup bowls with underplates in Blue and White from the famous Rosenthal pottery. Dated from the 1973 Studio Linie range with the Indent on both sides of >Germany< The Underplates have 1 x indent on >Germany and have a signature on the Underplate "Rosenthal Studio-Linie" with the Signature "Tapio Wirkkala" Along with architect Alvar Aalto, the designer Tapio Wirkkala was Finlands leading contributor to the Scandinavian interpretation of modernism in the mid-20th century. Prolific and innovative, Wirkkala excelled in a wide range of fields, including glass, furniture, porcelain, jewelry and tableware. The hallmark of his talent was an ability to impart a craft aesthetic based on natural forms leaves, ice, bubbles, birds to industrially produced designs. Rosenthal GmbH is a German manufacturer of porcelain products and other household goods. The original firm was founded in 1879 in Selb, Bavaria. Since 2009, Rosenthal has been owned by the Italian company Sambonet Paderno Industrie (Arcturus Group) Fritz Thomas founded the Porzellanfabrik Thomas & Ens in Marktredwitz in 1904 in the German Franconian region. In 1908 the firm was taken over by the Rosenthal Group. In 1960 the production in Marktredwitz was discontinued. The new plant at Kulm in Speichersdorf was opened as a replacement as is still part of the Rosenthal group.
